Avionics Technician

Avionics Technician Duties:

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, adjust and repair avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, pulse, navigation, entertainment, power generation, auto pilot and compass systems, installed in business transport category aircraft using hand tools and test equipment
  • Install avionics components along with associated wiring, and inspect components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation
  • Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers
  • Adjust, repair or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks and other technical documents
  • Assist in the initial system integration activities with Avionics Designers and Engineers for a highly sophisticated avionics suite involving multiple computers and other electronic components from multiple suppliers
  • Conduct functional checks of avionics systems and make adjustments for optimal performance

Candidate Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years experience as an Avionics Technician with a licensed FAA 145 repair station
  • Must have held an FAA Repairman’s Certificate or current FAA A&P license
  • FCC license preferred
  • 3-5 years experience with at least one of the following aircraft:
    • Gulfstream II, III, IV, V
    • Gulfstream Galaxy/G200
    • Falcon 2000
    • Lear 30 or 60 series
    • Challenger 601 or 604
    • Hawker 700 or 800
    • Citation X, Sovereign or CE680
  • Prior experience in a FAR 135 maintenance organization and/or FAR 145 repair station
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints and drawings
  • Basic PC skills (email, Word, Excel)
  • Thorough working knowledge of FAA regulations
