Maintenance Support Services Manager
Overview
The Maintenance Support Services Manager maintains primary responsibility for the Pentastar Aviation Material Control and Detailing departments and all functions performed under its umbrella. This person ensures company and departmental goals and objectives are achieved and that employee and customer satisfaction is maintained. Position reports to the Director of Maintenance Operations.
Maintenance Support Services Manager Duties:
- Providing leadership and guidance, setting and measuring performance standards and ensuring quality and conformance to specifications set by the company and/or regulatory authority
- Collaborating with other managers to maximize financial performance, and providing feedback and advice to the maintenance management team concerning issues and opportunities
- Participating in the development of the department’s strategic plan and striving to meet or exceed plan
- Developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for Maintenance Support Services
- Recommending selection of staff; training staff in work procedures; administering discipline as required
- Managing, coordinating and directing the day-to-day activities of the Material Control and Detailing functions to include leading, training and equipping personnel supporting Material Control and aircraft detailing activities to include receiving inspections, inventory control, tool issue, rotable maintenance, aircraft interior and exterior cleaning, aircraft towing, aircraft Minimum Stock List (MSL) management, aircraft lavatory service, and aircraft panel removal
- Responding to and resolving Customer and Maintenance staff inquiries and complaints in the most expeditious method possible and proactively working across all departments to ensure that functional objectives are met for production, procurement, quality control, logistics and administrative functions
- Preparing a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed
- Conducting annual parts inventory audits and recommended action required to correct out-of-line conditions
- Overseeing processing of incoming and outgoing shipments by preparing/ensuring proper paperwork contains proper documentation to meet all required regulatory and/or company requirements
- Reviewing and approving all freight bills for the company and negotiates with freight companies for best possible rates
- Maintaining contact with the Purchasing Department to ensure parts are delivered and quality is consistent with purchase order requirements
- Notifying the Maintenance controller of all completed activities and delays in a timely manner
- Ensuring that assigned personnel follow all FAA, quality, safety and security procedures
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Inventory Management or related field highly desired
- 5 to 10 years experience in stockroom or inventory control preferably with a company having a comparable business aircraft operation
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License desired
- Proficient using various software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Experience with Corridor highly desired
- Working knowledge of FAR policies and procedures as applicable to material control and detailing of the aircraft. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Inventory Management or related field highly desired
